Sewer Line Inspection

Water drains slowly

When you have a sewer problem, water will drain slowly. At first, you might not notice the delay. However, left unattended, the drain problem can become apparent over time. Some homeowners attempt to clear the blockage with a snake or cleaner. Unfortunately, it won’t solve the problem.

Slow drains can also be attributed to calcium or limescale buildup in the lines. This type of buildup is way more difficult to remove than grease or food. To effectively remove the deposits, you will need the help of our experts. Our professionals will provide effective long-term solutions to ensure your water flows smoothly in no time.

Flooded Yard

If you notice flooding in your yard, you likely have a sewer line problem. However, it is also possible that the issue is caused by a sprinkler system problem. If you can’t find the source of the leak, get in touch with us, and our licensed and dependable plumbers will locate and fix the problem for you.

These guys have shown up to my house on multiple occasions for various reasons. It's been the same guy each time. Always friendly and smiling with a good attitude about whatever he's about to get into. This last time it was a stuck grinder pump in the basement. A gross endeavor. But, the positive attitude prevailed. Repaired for a very reasonable price considering the task. Would highly recommend and would use again when necessary. Thank you, Belsito.

What is Trenchless Sewer Line Repair?

Many unsuspecting homeowners have broken, cracked, or corroded pipes without them knowing it. Sometimes, the pipes are not big enough to accommodate the household’s needs and have to be replaced with bigger and newer ones. Fortunately, nowadays, broken sewer pipes can be easily repaired using the trenchless sewer repair method.

There are two approaches to trenchless sewer repair.

With pipe bursting, the existing line is blown apart as a new, stronger high-density pipe is pulled through it. With pipe relining, a fiberglass line is placed inside the faulty pipe to seal any damage, creating a long-lasting repair.

Sewer Line Damage

Tree roots are usually the prime suspect when it comes to sewer-line damage, with thousands of feet of roots constantly seeking moisture and often finding it in your sewer line. Older, clay tile pipes are most susceptible to invasion, but these roots can penetrate even concrete and PVC pipes.

In addition to root damage, a broken or clogged sewer line can happen in a number of ways. Objects can find their way into the line and become lodged. Extreme temperature changes and general deterioration can cause sewer problems, such as lines buckling or breaking. Ground shifting or improper installation can also lead to misalignment.

Sewer Line Inspection

This process avoids the expense of “exploratory” plumbing or digging up your yard by using a miniature camera to find out exactly what and where the problem is. Video inspection can also confirm the structural condition of your lateral pipes. It can tell you if an auger or high-pressure flush can solve the problem, or if more extensive repairs are necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions about Sewer Lines

How often should sewer lines be replaced?
The life of a sewer line depends on its composition.

  • PVC pipes can last over 100 years
  • Cast iron pipes last between 75–100 years
  • Clay and cement pipes can last up to 100 years
  • Orangeburg pipes installed between 1945 and 1972 have a lifespan of 50 years

How do you know if your sewer line is broken?

Common signs of a broken sewer line include:

  • Multiple slow drains
  • Foul smells emanating from drains or overtaking your domicile
  • The presence of mold or mildew in the basement
  • An increase in pests

Plumbing-related issues aren’t always easy to spot – especially ones that occur underground, so when in doubt, contact a professional plumber to find the source.

What is a sewer inspection camera?

Sewage inspection cameras are a unique and powerful way to identify potential problems in otherwise difficult-to-reach pipes. Using a “snake attachment,” these waterproof video devices can be inserted into pipelines underground and behind walls for comprehensive visual inspections of any pipe – turning what was previously invisible into an open book!
